How I went from a decade in the wine industry to writing copy for a living!

Changing careers can be daunting, it was for me anyway. Before copywriting, I had worked in the wine industry for over a decade primarily in hospitality: sales and events. I didn’t even know that the word ‘copy’ referred to words on a page until I was in my 30s!

Right before Covid, in 2019, I had my son and took 12 weeks off for maternity leave. When I came back to work, the pink champagne glasses I wore to see the wine industry as dazzling, entertaining, fun, and exciting dulled and I saw it for what it was. I was tired, burned out and just wanted more time with my son. I knew it was time for a change, but I wasn't sure where to start. That's when I started to discover copywriting.

In early 2020, I told my husband out loud “I want to be a professional writer.” That declaration started the shift, and in July of 2020, I signed up for the CCA. Support From Other Writers
